A Run Down Memory Lane
If you would have asked me when I was little if it was possible for a person to run from my house to Shoshone Falls I would have told you No way. That it was impossible to run that far. Well it turns out it is only 5 miles from my old house to Shoshone Falls and over spring break I did just that, I ran it. I didn't realize I was going to run from my house to the falls but was just looking for a five miler that ended in the canyon. Since I needed to get some downhill running in I figured I could end in the canyon and just have Glenn drive me five miles down the road to find my starting point. The weird thing was that as we drove and started getting closer and closer to my old house I kept thinking that we had gone waayy too far. The part of my brain containing my childhood perceptions was battling the odometer but the part of my brain that knows I can run 5 miles finally won out. Anyway I can run five miles even if that means running from my house to the falls.
It was a beautiful day and a great run. Here's the road starting down the canyon.
I loved coming around a corner and seeing this rainbow parked over the Falls showing me the way.
The end.
It's possible that the rainbow could have been pointing me here because finding this bathroom was the real reward. Too much Gatorade beforehand;)
It was a great day of discovery, not only a new running route but that we shouldn't let our perceptions limit us. Sometimes we just need to go out and find out for ourselves what we are really capable of!
