Summer Wrap Up- August

Aug. 4- Monday morning we dropped Abby and Erynn off at EFY!  This was Abby's first year going and she loved it!  She even had a roommate from the Mormon colonies in Mexico.  Thanks to Dylan they were able to talk all things Mexico and they got along great.  Abby is definitely planning to go again next year!
We tried to keep busy while Abby was gone and because summer was winding down.  On Aug. 6 we hiked to Timpanogos Cave.  Emily was very young the last time she went through the cave and William had not been there at all.
Here's the rock arch on the way up.
One of the many, many breaks we took.  (The kids don't really like hiking and this is a pretty steep hike.)
At the Rattlesnake sign.  I always like to take a picture here.
This was after the tour and before heading back down.  Look at that beautiful view!
Aug. 8 Emily and I experimented with making dill pickle chip dip since I can't find the brand I like in stores anymore.  I'm happy to report it was a total success!
Aug. 10 The Sunday celebration of Will's birthday so Dad could be there.
He asked for a white board.  I wasn't exactly sure why but I had to smile a couple of days later when I saw his schedule and reminders written on it.
Aug 12- Emily planned and carried out most of the details of Will's friend party and everyone had a blast!  First we had a gift exchange, then an obstacle course and target shooting with prizes, and the piece de resistance was an all out Nerf gun war.  The kids came ready for battle!

Aug 13- And a little more birthday celebrating on the actual day, lucky Aug 13th.  This crazily wrapped present had Will a little confused.  It ended up being a bow and arrow set.

Aug 16-  The Boyce's came to visit over the last 2 weeks in August.  Since Glenn was on call over the 15-17 we all took a road trip up to Idaho.  Janine had not been back to Twin Falls for 12 years or so.
The pictures are at the library and at the Twin Falls Temple.  We also saw some base jumping at the Perrine bridge and went to the Falls of course.  We rounded out the trip at the Cassia County fair in Burley.  We had to check that out since it will be our fair from now on.  I was disappointed that they didn't have any poultry exhibits.

Aug 19- First day of school!  I barely caught these two before we left.  Abby being in High School this year was long gone.  This is Emily's 8th grade year and William's 4th grade year.
Aug 20- Here's a random funny picture of Otis.  Apparently he was laying over the vent and his dog tag got stuck in it.  I happened by and found him calmly sitting like this.  Funny dog!
Aug 23- Sending Garrett in to wake up the girls is fun for G, not so much the girls.  Hey what are big brothers for?
Aug 23- Janine turned us on to "whipped cream shots".  You squirt a dallop of whipped cream on the back of your hand then throw that arm up while smacking it down with your other hand.  The whipped cream pops into the air and you try to catch it in your mouth.
Here's the gang lining up.  Unfortunately I didn't take any after pictures.  I think we were laughing too hard.

And that's a wrap for August and for the Summer of 2014!

Summer Wrap Up- July

Mon June 30 (I know that's not July but close enough.)
We returned from Missouri on Sunday June 29th and Will got his cast on early the next morning.
First a quick xray which showed that it was already healing nicely.

Then the waterproof wrap

Followed by the hard casting material

He was getting a little tired of holding his arm upright

Aww relief!

July 4 was a little anti-climactic after the wedding and long trip.  Glenn was on call for the weekend and was not able to come home.  We did have a family BBQ with the following guest list:  Dylan and Lauren, their friends Jack and Susan, Lauren's Aunt Jessica, Uncle Jake and Jake's mom, my sister and Family (Debbie, Lynn, Mary, McKay, Duncan), Grandma and Grandpa Williams..... I think that was it.  Dylan assumed the responsibility of manning the grill and with some guidance from Jake he did a great job.  Almost everyone left after dinner and since I didn't buy any fireworks this year we watched the Hall's show.  I thought I better get at least one picture so asked the girls to take one of Will.  I forgot that he doesn't really like sparklers so he's a little nervous.

Since the girls had my phone they amused themselves taking selfies and a few pics of fireworks too.

July 9th was the last Day Camp for both Will and I since he's a Webelo now and I've been released.  Here is the gang lining up for an epic pool noodle sword battle.
Will realized his cast came in handy for hammering in the mast pole for his ship.  He then helped all the boys around him with theirs.

More pool noodles, this time for jousting.
July 14 The minions making apricot jam.  I love having minions!
July 20 What a cute Birthday Boy!  We had to celebrate a little early since he is in Idaho on the weekdays.
July 22-24 A few pics of Abby.  Here she is on Thunder at horse riding lessons.
She took a liking to reading while her phone was being repaired.
Discovering "Tater Browns" or "Hash Tots". (The debate is still raging.)  The formula is waffle iron + tater tots = deliciousness.
July 28 William saying goodbye to the cast.
Spreading those fingers out was the best feeling ever!

July 31 A quick trip to Idaho for an orthodontist appointment and to get glasses for Abby.  Here's Will with Revo at Mt. West Optical.
Followed by a quick trip home so Emily could attend the Art Show and get her award.  She received an Honorable Mention for her teddy bear drawing.
