2nd Half Blitz

The last half of the summer is always my favorite.  For some reason the feeling always changes for me at the end.  I don't know if it's because all the camps and other "have to's" are done, or if it's because I know that school is fast approaching or if it's just because I finally get into the groove of summer but whatever it is I love it.  It always turns into a very relaxed and fun time for me.  I can say this year the difference was very stark because the first part of the summer we were madly cleaning, organizing and repairing so we could get our house listed.  The timing of finally getting it listed coincided with the week that Glenn and Garrett were gone for Timberline so the kids and I dove full force into summer!  We've been trying new recipes, crossing things off our summer bucket list and making waayyy too many ice cream runs.  It's been fabulous.
Here's what we've been up to over the past few weeks.
Friendship bracelets. (Discovered the bracelet maker on-line and promptly ran out to Hobby Lobby to purchase one.  We've done about a dozen bracelets so far.)
Road trip to Ephraim UT and a quick visit to the boys at camp.

4 days of swimming and general chilling in Midway thanks to good friends the Rockwells!

The Ice Cream Fund. (Arctic Circle loves us.)
Parades, parks and fireworks.  After the Highland Fling parade we hit the Cedar Hills park and discovered that they still have some water running although not the full stream that we are used to.  The kids had to get in for old times sake.  We watched the fireworks later that night from the back of our "new" (formerly Grandpa's) truck which was an item on the bucket list.

Recipes we've tried- Abby's pick Mini Mexican Pizza
Emily's pick Resurrection Rolls (We missed these at Easter but still wanted to try them.)
William's choice Homemade Reese's Peanut Butter Cups
Waffle Love- We found the famous Waffle Truck!
Tie Dye's (Who needs back to school shopping?)

Stay tuned for a pictorial look at the rest of our summer!
